How many Searches do you take on at once?

It’s a question every client should ask and the answer says a lot about how a search firm works.

The strong part:
At Richmond Capital, we deliberately keep our portfolio lean. We manage only a handful of live mandates at any given time.

This ensures senior-level focus, consistent communication, and the ability to move with speed and precision. Unlike larger firms, we don’t stretch consultants across dozens of projects. When you retain us, you get our attention.

The weak part (and why it’s intentional):
Because we cap the number of searches we accept, there are times when we may decline new work or suggest a later start date. We’d rather do fewer projects exceptionally well than take on too much and compromise quality.

Why this matters to you:
Executive search isn’t just about sourcing names; it’s about building trust with candidates, discreet market mapping, and carefully managing off-limits conflicts. That level of engagement takes time. By focusing on fewer searches, we deliver stronger shortlists, better candidate experience, and ultimately more successful hires.

So, how many searches at once?
Typically 3–5 per partner, never more. That’s our sweet spot for balancing depth with responsiveness.

If you’re considering a search now:
It’s worth asking every firm you speak to this same question. The answer will tell you whether you’ll be a priority, or just one of many.
