Here are some steps you can follow:
▶️Thank the sender for the offer and confirm you will review and revert at the earliest.
▶️Review the contract to ensure you are happy with all the terms. Check with care the clauses that cover your name, address, job title, start date, annual leave allowance, probation period, notice period, restrictive covenants, salary, pay rises, bonus, benefits and pension to ensure they are in line with your expectations. If there is any questions you have let the Recruiter know so they can bottom out any questions, get any typos or errors corrected and negotiate any improvements on your behalf. A good recruiter should have ensured the offer matches your expectations before it is sent through however sometimes there can be surprises or room for manoeuvre.
▶️Accept or reject the offer. If you are happy to accept, then promptly sign and return the offer pack at the earliest once any questions you have or changes have been made if required. If you are not interested in the offer then let the parties involved know at the earliest. If you are using a recruiter, then ask them to communicate this for you. Nobody wants an employee to join a company that doesn’t fit with their expectations but again let them know promptly so they can continue their search as appropriate.
▶️Let any other companies you are interviewing know you will not be continuing in their process. If you are using a recruiter then ask them to do this for you.
▶️Resign to your current employer if appropriate and confirm your last date.
▶️Facilitate any handovers and leave on a high note.
▶️Nurture your network by adding your colleagues on LinkedIn and arranging a leaving lunch to catch up one last time. You never know when you might see them again.
