How do I resign professionally?

• Check your contract to see your notice period, how the contract can be terminated and ensure you will not be caught by any Restrictive Covenants
• Resign Face to Face and provide follow up with a resignation letter or email
• Thank your manager for the experiences and support you have had to date
• If your manager requires you to leave the premises immediately or go on garden leave, be prepared
• Rehearse so you are confident in what you will say
• Consider if you will tell your manager what company you will be moving too
• Be prepared they might respond with a counter offer
• Keep your resignation confidential as your manager will likely want to break the news to the team themselves
• Follow up with HR regarding your last day and any exit interviews or processes to ensure these are completed
• Prepare thorough handover notes and leave on a positive note
