We are a Property company in the UK and we are reviewing our Paternity Leave. What approach are other companies taking in our sector and it is the sector leading the way or trailing behind?

  • Paternity Leave for many companies in the sector is 2 weeks but is usually paid at 100%. However some companies are less generous and only offer statutory pay.
  • A lot of our clients are currently looking at their policies so there are likely to be more welcome improvements across the sector shortly
  • One tool we have seen to which companies top UK Employers can be viewed at: https://www.korukids.co.uk/about/campaigning-fund-childcare/paternity-league
  • As you can see the Real Estate is trailing behind other sectors as opposed to leading the way

Notable approaches in the sector:

  • Sir Robert McAlpine and Laing O’Rourke with 26 weeks full pay,
  • CBRE with 16 weeks full pay Partner Leave
  • Kier, Skanska and Bougues and Wates providing 8 weeks full pay Parental Leave

Whilst you are at it, other policies you might want to implement or enhance are those focused on Shared Parental Leave, Maternity, Adoption, Fertility Leave Prenatal Appointments, Family Medical Leave, Childcare Allowance, Lacation, Sleep Support and Parental Bereavement.
