I am currently working for a Project Management Consultancy in London. I am looking into become Chartered. Is the APM or MRICS qualification more in demand, and what do you recommend?

  • We would recommend you do the APC to become MRICS chartered as with the Consultancies we work with, it’s more in demand.
  • You will not only earn useful skills but it will help you progress your career. Some Consultancies won’t be able to hire you into certain grades or promote without being MRICS qualified.
  • On becoming Chartered often you can expect to say a payrise and a promotion which is always a nice motivator
  • Typically Developers are less concerned which you have, however they can lean to candidates that are MRICs Chartered when it comes to the crunch on hiring for senior roles. As such if you can tick off the APC early on, we would recommend doing so.
  • To find out more about getting Chartered and the routes to do so, please check out RICs – https://www.rics.org/surveyor-careers/how-to-become-a-surveyor/chartered-surveyor.

Good luck 🍀
